Hey,

I am interested in a laptop that will be usable and decent in 4 years.

I don't care about the difference in screen size, portability, or weight.

I don't use many intense apps or games. Mainly word, excel, powerpoint, internet, light video watching/editing.

So, what do you recommend as a good option to ensure my laptop will still be viable in 4 years, ssd, or i5?

It's easier to replace the hard drive than the processor. If you can't get both now, definitely go for the best processor you can afford and buy an SSD later on.

Hard drive you can replace whenever you want and it's pretty easy but CPU cannot be upgraded thus invest on CPU and later on upgrade to SSD
