So I download a lot of movies on my MBA and convert the movies to different formats so that I can play them on my iPhone, TouchPad etc. Then I move the movies over to my external Hard Drive. I am what you can call a heavy user. I write and delete a lot of data on the SSD.
The MBA is my first Mac and my first computer with a SSD. Most of my older laptops have lasted me 4-5 years without any HDD trouble. So my questions:
- Can the MBA's SSD take this kind of heavy data writing and deletion?
- Do the SSDs have a shorter life than HDDs?
- Can I expect to the use my MBA like this for 3-4 years more or should I start rethinking how I am using it?
Unlike some of the other ballers on MacRumors forums, I cannot afford to buy another computer in the next 2-3 years so I need my MBA to last me a while.
