macOS SSH Not Working on Mac

Hi, I just recently set up an SSH server on my Linux Mint desktop so I could test it out before I actually create a server and whenever I type ssh [ip address] into my Mac's terminal it just gives me a completely blank prompt. I've also tried typing ssh [myusername]@[ip address]What am I doing wrong?
 
nevermind. fixed it. It was a firewall setting that needed to be changed on my Linux machine.
