Stack are laggy when they

Hi,
when I open my Download stack folder in a grid view, the openning animation is getting very laggy when there are a lot of files.

Is this normal ?

Yes. It does this to me on my 24" iMac 2.8 GHz, 4GB of RAM. It's not really bad, but there is a slight lag.

Hmm,
I thought osx could do better. Actually I dont really mind cos I really don't use the stacks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to speak for everyone else, but it does it to me a little bit.

I know this is a very old thread, but I came across it when I MRoogle'd the same issue, but I think I've actually managed to solve it. My applications stack lagged a bit on my iMac. It seems that if you change the "View content as" option to "Grid" rather than "Automatic", the lagginess goes away.
