Stacking Firewire Drives

Is it ok to stack firewire drives? I have two stacked on my bookshelf and the bottom one get pretty warm, not too hot to touch, but almost. Western Digital says that they are "stackable" but would it be wise to use them horizontally instead of stacking them?
