I was wondering if anyone could confirm that stage manager definitely works on the 64GB M1 iPad Air?

I know apple soecifically lists the M1 iPad Air as supporting stage manager, but I’ve seen a comment in the forums that only the 256GB iPad Air supports it and not the 64GB iPad Air? I’m really hoping this is just someone spouting incorrect info!

It would be great to get confirmation.

Thanks!

I have not heard that, but I’m going crazy trying to figure why the Stage Manager icon doesn’t show up on mine.

64GB IPad Air M1 wont get me memory swap so if you start opening up additional spaces i.e. 1 -4 apps and or have it connected to a monitor, then you may see it having to refresh apps or close them from time to time if the 8GB RAM ceiling is hit consistently. Not sure how this works on Ipad OS but I know when using a M1 Macbook that Safari like all browsers is a resource hog after a while so I find myself closing and reopening it to free up RAM. Or if you use apps which utlise large files e.g. photoshop, lightroom, LumaFusion, procreate then it could be seen there also.

Is there anything new regarding Air 5 64GB Stage Manager support? Will it work in the next iPadOS releasing this fall and is there any additional limitations with 64GB version?

I just looked into this. We need an explanation from Apple, don't you think?. It is unacceptable that they sell the Air saying you can use Stagemanger, a important new feature, when in fact you can't? Or what? The team that is doing this, well......

Some kind of mistake? Something's not right, and speculation just makes it all the more confusing. I certainly don't want to waste my time with something like this because Apple has dropped the ball.

Can you use it it or not? And what can we expect. Simple questions.
Well we have a huge group of people here so I’m sure someone has a 64 GB M1 iPad Air. Maybe some are reluctant to test this feature. All Apple is going to say is either it’s compatible or not they’re not going to go onto some crazy detail about how it loads or whatever. According to Apple it’s compatible.

I would test it on my 64 GB iPad Air but it’s not M1 so no stage manager for me 😂

But there's a disconnect. Two conflicting specifications. It's not like it's an unknown as we have the info. It's just contradictory.

It's not a big deal, obviously. And I suppose it would be interesting to do a YT video with a Pro and Air side-by-side to see what's up.

I may even do that myself. See if I can detect something.

It's interesting though. If one is swapping because of anemic ram, while the other isn't, that should be visible. Or not?
Who knows. I'm definitely curious now, and I do have a iPad Pro and M1 Air, along with a portable USB-C monitor . I haven't even tried Stagemanager yet, btw (bad buzz, frankly)

There’s no disconnect… as @russell_314 stated it works on a 64GB M1 iPad Air. I recall awhile back Apple mention that model might have issues with memory swap.

But as of now.. according to the website. There’s no mystery behind it… Stage Manager works completely on a 64GB M1 iPad Air.

It would be interesting to see those two iPads testing the same apps side by side to see if there is some difference in Stage Manager performance.

Why not? If you want to know and you’re capable of finding out and that’s probably the best way. My iPad Air is the one just before M1 so I can’t test it. I don’t feel the need to upgrade because I use it for browsing the web and watching movies. I use my MacBook Air for everything else.

For me it’s a different tool for different purposes. It’s great for watching movies because it’s lighter and less bulky without a keyboard. For light web browsing it’s also really good because most of the time I’m not using a keyboard. It’s also a bit more durable for smaller drops on carpet. I think the problem is when people add a keyboard trying to make it a laptop it just doesn’t make sense. I mean it will work but it’s not better in any way I can think of and it’s worse in some.
