I sure hope one day Apple will let us move windows in Stage Manager wherever we want.

This automatic windowing system is really tedious. And makes the whole Stage Manager experience worse than it should be.

I can’t imagine this being a big issue letting us position app windows as we want.

Granted, it's not as free form as we would like... but we can move windows wherever we want to some degree.

I experienced Stage Manager when it was first released on beta and placing windows in certain spots were buggy then, it has improved immensely from that point.

IMO, the reason why there's this sense of restriction with moving windows is due to all developers don't support SlideOver and SplitView.

I love the automatic windowing system in Stage Manager on iPad. Personally, I’ve always hated how the Mac requires you to be a ”janitor“ (as Steve Jobs put it) and constantly battle against clutter by resizing/repositioning/closing/minimizing/hiding windows. It makes my work very tedious.

Stage Manager on iPad feels like a breath of fresh air to me and the way I’ve always wanted window management to work. Things are positioned in a logical ways based on the window size without all the fiddling, and I can easily get rid of unwanted windows by going into “expose” view and swiping away anything that’s not needed.

If you prefer how it works on the Mac, I have nothing against you. Maybe free form windowing can be an option on the iPad. But I really hope Apple keeps the simplicity of how they’ve brought multiple windows to the iPad vs. caving to the outcry of people saying thing want to replicate how windows are treated on the Mac.
