Stalling issues with Macbook 2008

Hi

So I have a Macbook 2008 with 3 gigs of ram and a 320 gig HD. For really a day now I've noticed an issue with videos not playing or timing out when I play them. I had a non mp4 video file which I tried to load with VLC and got the same results. Things seem to hang a lot on the web as well.

OSX and itunes are up to date. I've run a repair disk and repair permissions.

I don't know if this is an issue with my itunes library, the HD or the ram possibly.

Any help would be appreciated.
