So what I'm looking for specifically is something that will plug into the iPhone 3.5mm jack and split into two separate jacks: one being for headphone output and one solely for microphone input. I want to use the microphone input so I can connect it to my laptop and make higher-quality recordings. Normally, I'd have to use the iPhone's built-in microphone or use the OEM headphone/mic.

Anyone have any suggestions? I saw the DLO one but I believe it just doubles the iPhone jacks and doesn't support a stand-alone microphone input. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Here's one that's homemade. This is what I'm looking for:

EDIT: Nevermind, I found what I was looking for. For future reference and searches, since I didn't find a single thread about this, this is what I found and exactly what I was looking for:

This cable is a nice find. I do something very similar with a camcorder audio/video cable. I've been researching mics, and the ability to record with proper limiter control for awhile, and I've yet to find a GOOD portable solution.

This is the only thing that has worked for me so far...

And the other mic's i've tried...
