Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has come across this before, I am no longer able to set the monitor angle - the mechanism no longer holds the position and it just "flops" to the lowest (pointing down) angle.

Anyone heard of this?

Nope. Sounds like an easy fix. You're still under warranty. Bring that sucker in!
:)

There is no such thing as an early 2013 iMac model. If you bought it early in 2013, it's a late 2012 model. In either case, if you bought it lees than a year ago, it's under warranty and you should get it taken care of.

Very peculiar. Not an easy fix, though, for the Apple repair guys. You have to literally strip the entire computer (screen off, logic board pulled out etc) to get to that hinge.

At least you won't have to do it yourself!

No not straightforward, and they won't do the repair at home so need to take it in...

Brief update, little relevance but highlights Apples after-sales service.

The iMac came back with a mark on the LCD, so they are sending me a new machine:

Machine they are replacing is a late 2012, 3.4 i7, 680MX.
The replacement is being built now and will have the 3.5 i7 & 780M, plus the other benefits of the 2013 model.

You really can't fault that service can you!

You're really one lucky chap. I had to burn a big hole in my wallet to shell out enough quid to buy my 27" (3.5GHz i7, 4GB GTX780M, 32GB RAM and 512GB SSD)
