Since upgrading to iPhone Air last week I'm noticing very different standby behaviour to before (iPhone 15 PM). In particular when the phone is on a charging stand at bedside, I practically have to reach over and whack the phone to get the display to come on. The previous phone detected nearly every movement in front of the phone.

I can only assume this is an issue arising from iPhone Air, iOS 26, or the two together. I'm aware the camera had changed in this year's models, but I assume standby is using the other sensor (Face id).

At the same time I don't see any other posts relating to the issue, so wonder if it's somehow unique to me.

Others?

I’ve been testing the Air and Pro which both do this so it’s not you. Additionally, on the Air the day/date is much brighter than the time on a pure black screen. Basic stuff Apple.

I have a 16 Pro Max, sometimes when the room is dark, I experience something similar. It’s like the device recognizes the charging stand and charges, but at the same time doesn’t recognize the charging stand and does not initiate Standby mode. I adjust the phone’s position, that works sometimes, and others, a restart fixes the issue.

In my case standby is on, it just doesn't activate the screen without a silly amount of motion. It's basically useless overnight, where it used to work well.
