I would have to say "A Measure of a Man" is one of my most favorite episodes and the finale "All Good Things...." And anything with Q is it. he's funny...
Anything with Q in it, but the first one, Encounter at Farpoint, is good, IMO.
Addendum: The Big Good-Bye, co-staring Lawrence Tierney. An excellent "escapist" episode.

That's a good one too. And also the "Ship in the Bottle" with Professor Moriarty is a good one as well. There are a lot of good episodes with TNG, hard to narrow down to one or two.
Now, the OP was asking for TNG episodes, not TOS episodes... geese
Oh, sry. I'd go with "The Empire Strikes Back," then.. Best one.
I am looking forward to the new ST coming out - I never got into the TV shows much, and I can't stand Shatner, but I have to say the new movie looks like it may be half-way decent.
