OS Neutral Star Wars: Battlefront Will Go on Via GameRanger

Per Scott Kevill - the head iguana of GameRanger - his service will be providing multiplayer matches for SW: Battlefront 2 after May 31, following GameSpy Technologies' ceasing updating leaderboards, etc on that date.

I think you're conflating a few things from the article. It discusses Battlefront 2, which has no official OS X release.

The original Battlefront was ported, and GameRanger has a Mac client available.

So, Battlefront 1 - Mac version
Battlefront 2 - no Mac version

Battlefront 1 Mac version for PowerPC... Not sure how it was playable on Intel Macs with Roseta (only up to 10.6 Snow Leopard)

As hopeful as I am for a Mac port, I just can't see it.

The game is too old, it's dev cycle is done unless Game ranger is going to output patches and maintain the game
