Start Slider Not Sliding But it Starts????

For some reason, the electronic slider that you move to turn on the ipad doesn't slide anymore.
Every once in a while it will make a slight jump to the right, but only a small amount.
But, it still turns on normal.
The slider you use to turn it off works good.
Any ideas?
