I've posted some problems earlier, and due to the continuing of these problems(even with the great assistance of the people on this forum, thank you all, I've learned a great deal about macs in the last couple of days)
I've decided to start from scratch, I'm now in the process of backing up my files on cd's.
a question ; should I/how do I fully format my eMac?
and after that; can I just throw in my software install and restore discs and start all over again as if just having bought my little baby?

When you boot off of the restore media, one of the options is to erase and install. You don't need to erase the disk as a seperate step.

Thank you, I'm going to go with that option. I have all my files backed up now. This is all a bit nerve-wrecking, as I never reinstalled a Mac before. Hope all goes well!

everything worked out fine! reinstalling is a piece of cake, i choose erase and install and everyhting is working properly now, thanx all!
