Greetings,
this thread was created with the intention to help
non technical users like me, to understand whats bellow the
Mac OS X surface, this means getting to understand how it works.
Trying to increase and understand better questions that can lead to better
security positioning .

To start I would like to ask if any one ever had to authenticate to turn the airport ON/OFF?
From one day to another my sytem demands me every time I want to switch it ON or OFF.
I wonder if this something normal?

I think there's a setting somewhere for this -- I think maybe Network -> Airport -> Airport Options -> Require Administrator Password to Join / Change Networks or something like that.

But otherwise, no, you should not.

Airport + Where to find basic info

Hey thanks mkrishnan,
that was it.

I have aother question,
For some one that wants to start understanding
whats behind the operating systems and how it works,
There is any basic lectures I can follow in the internet?
I know the probably its a vast subject, but where to start?

Thanks for any help.

I think at the level of detail you're looking for, David Pogue's Missing Manual series is probably perfect. Available for not very much money via Amazon, etc. :)
