I recently did a clean install of Big Sur on my 2013 Mac Pro and since then my computer boots up to the wrong display. I have two displays, the primary display is connected via a Displayport to Thunderbolt cable, and the secondary display is connected by a DVI to Thunderbolt adapter cable. The secondary display is primarily used for video monitoring through a Blackmagic I/O box (through HDMI from the box not the Mac), but I sometimes use it as an extended desktop on the DVI input.
I've ensured the primary display is selected in System Preferences arrangement tab, reset SMC and PRAM and rebooted several times. If I disconnect the secondary display, the computer won't send a signal to the primary monitor on startup. The only way to get startup on the primary display is if mirroring is on.
There has to be an easier way to fix this.
