On my 2011 imac 27 inch i5, I installed the OSX 10.6.8 update today. It used to be that my computer would start up in just 10 seconds. The startup time has now increased to over 20 seconds after this update.

I know 20 seconds does not sound like much but compared to what it used to be, this is quite an increase.

Is this normal? Have you guys experienced the same?

Thanks!

It might be slow for the first few restarts as the caches build up again.

OK. So this may be normal. I started up twice (once after the thunderbolt update and another just to see what the startup time really). ANd I did notice that the initial start after the 10.6.8 update was the slowest, at close to 35sec. The one after thunderbolt was 25 seconds. This last one was around 19 seconds.

Thanks a lot for your help!

i was getting 22 secs with clean 10.6.7
(from click imac start button to be ready to use)

Now with 10.6.8 and all apps installed, some app at init... 22 secs too.

Anyway I always use sleep mode, instant on/off.
