First of all, let it be known that the test has been devised and conducted by a PC-builder who is not necessarily unbiased.
Two, the majority of the tests were conducted with a Hackintosh for reasons explained in link below.
Three, he calls the results above preliminary, not in the last place because of the 32/64-bit OS and DAW/host discrepancy.
Four, there are a number of variables that need to be taken into account. such as Hackintosh/BIOS settings which may not favor OSX, and the RME sound card which is a success story for Windows but had teething problems when first introduced for OSX (but that was many years ago).
That said, I believe the basic method to be sound, and I doubt that the aforementioned variables alone are sufficient to explain away OSX' dismal performance.
When I get a new machine this summer I will definitely do some testing of my own, probably with audio hardware that has a proven track record with OSX (like MOTU).
