"State Saver," way to save my currently open set of apps/windows for easy reopening

Is there a "State Saver" feature or application for Snow Leopard, which would allow me to save my currently open set of apps/windows, and easily reopen them?

Sort of like a session manager for a web browser, except covering all programs/windows..
