ios 11.2.5, iPhone SE (32GB), ATT
Recently, I have noticed that when the phone is connected to the car via BT, the phone battery icon in my 2017 Toyota Highlander radio seems to be permanently at 100%. I could swear that on previous ios versions it was functional and followed the actual phone battery state of charge. Am I dreaming?
Note that the signal strength icon does update periodically.
EDIT: I was on the phone with Apple just now on an unrelated issue and asked about the battery icon. The answer was "since you are not using a CarPlay branded device, we cannot offer support and cannot guarantee the operation via BT". That attitude seemed to extend even to more significant functions like making and receiving calls. Remind me why I bought an Apple product....... oh yes.... "it just works".
