Ok, so here's my problem. I have a new late 2008 mbp with external 24" Dell display. When I leave the computer for extended periods of time and it goes into standby. (Energy settings are default.) It will awake to a flashing sheet of static on my screen. The sheet of static will flash to show me the desktop behind it for a split second and then flash back to the sheet of static. It will cycle in this way indefinitely until I power off the machine and boot it back up again, at which point everything will be fine.

Does anybody have an idea as to what is causing this? I'm using the 9600mGT and am going to test it with the 9400 and see if the same thing happens. Other than that, I don't have any graphical problems but it's very strange and frustrating.
