So recently my MacBook has been emitting a static sound while listening through headphones on the right ear only. It happens after 10-20 mins of listening. It is not the internal dac or amp as it is still there when I use external dac plugged into USB. It is not the audio file as it happens at random times. It doesn't happen when audio is off, only when playing music and it is controlled by volume control which makes me believe it is a problem with the digital signal. Maybe the processor? Wverything else with the mac seems fine. Anyone know what may be wrong? I can't find a similar issue online and I'm out of warranty.

Have you checked the headphones themselves?

It happens on most book pros. (including two that IO have). The problem has been around for years and apple never fixed it.
