So, I'm moving at the end of the month and need to rehouse my server at home. I've looked at SBC DSL and Time Warner cable. Both can do me service for $45/month or so, with a dynamic IP. However, I want a static IP. They both seem to think this is worth a $50/month premium.

How often does Time Warner change IPs?

What would you do?

Go for a smaller, regional ISP. They usually have much better pricing on plans with static IPs.

I've been satisfied with DSLExtreme.com for years, BTW. I pay $60/mo for 6000/608 with 8 static IPs (though I'm only using the one right now).

and chance are you dont have a static IP address. You do have to pay extra for a static IP address.
