Static when using non-Apple headset

Is it the positioning of the headset jack near the microphone? The reality is that on two different iPhone 5 units, and 3 different headsets, static noise can heard regardless of the headset positioning, cable wrapping etc...

Anyone else experienced it?

I am having the same problem. In addition, I have my phone sitting on my desk at work and my computer speakers keep getting feedback. If anyone else is having similar problems I would like to know.

Some precision

What I could consistently observe is:
1) my headset microphone gets to pick up the static
2) my headset earphones are alright
3) my correspondent gets to hear static (it's really bad)

Seems to be OK with FaceTime.

I'll call Apple support later today; the thing is that Apple's new headset works a charm (quelle surprise!)
