Status bar help

After I receive a notification (I'm currently using MobileNotifier) my status bar turns to a solid greyish colour. You can see what I mean from the pictures below:

This also happens when I use apps like shazam or SoundHound. I find this extremely annoying and I was wondering if anyone would know how to fix the problem.
