So i have the notification icon in my status bar, but i have no idea what the notification is for, or how to get the notification in the status bar to go away.

What iPhone are you using? What version of iOS are you running? I'm assuming that you are jailbroken, as stock iOS of any variety doe not have notification icons in the status bar.
