Just curious because I didn't notice it before 2.1; the loading/status circle (for lack of a better term) is always visible and turning when I'm in phone mode now. Not just when a call is active, but anytime I'm in the phone area (keypad, recents, etc.)

Two questions:
  1. Was that always the case?
  2. Why does it do that?

updating your contacts via push just in case you hit the contacts button?

something might be trying to run in the background, email etc... I would try and restart the phone.

I reaslly wish the phone had an activity monitor sometimes.

I have actually noticed that the status circle works a lot less in 2.1 than it did with 2.0.2. Whenever something accessed the internet it would move, not it doesn't show up on everything.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (16GB, 2.1): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

you're not alone - I've noticed this too. I'm using MobileMe push for my contacts. How about you?

I'm using MMe push for contacts too, but no activity indicator here ...
