I just got my first ipod, an ipod touch 32gb 2nd gen. Now I'm looking for a hi-fi-ish docking system but have realised, that many docks on the market still can't charge the 2g ipod touch -for example the quite new denon asd 11r dock.
Could anyone give me a brief status on these seemingly ongoing charging problems? Which of the more advanced docking systems (from various hi-fi brands) will actually charge? At least, I guess that apple's own universal dock will charge it...but I'm looking for better sound quality than that.

The ones that don't charge are docking stations based on FireWire. As of the current generation, NO new iPods (this includes the 120GB iPod classic, the 4th gen iPod nano and the 2nd gen iPod touch) can charge via FireWire. You need to find a USB docking station for it to charge while it's playing. It's not a "problem" or "bug", it's just Apple purposely dropping compatability.
