I often use both android and iphone, I like to switch. Now I use 13 Pro Max and before it 13 Pro and before that s21 ultra.
Now I'm thinking of selling my 13 Pro Max (100% bh apple war 10.2023 and AW6) and buying an s23 ultra, but I think I'd regret it. Has anyone done this, I need advice? To do it or not to do it?
I'm an average user, nothing special.

You should do it, add some excitement to your life.

(realistically, iPhones and Android flagships are similar enough that there's not a huge difference between them unless you're really deep into the ecosystem... or you just really like AirDrop/iMessage :p)

I currently have a 14 Pro and an S23U. If you aren't completely tied to Apple, I would say go for it. They are both honestly great phones. Super fast, great battery life and cameras. I can't think of a real reason not to give it a try outside of ecosystem.

This is the oddest question ever.
If you're tied into the Apple ecosystem, you can't easily switch to Android.

If you want ease of use and privacy and protection, Apple.
Tweak things, Android.

There's a reason why Apple's demographics skews to wealthy.

S23 Ultra seems to genuinely be one of the greatest Galaxy devices Samsung has made, as in the package is one of the closest to perfect it has been for a long time:
- Chip is powerful and significantly more efficient thanks to Qualcomm switching from Samsung fab to TSMC
- Camera seems to be excellent (improvement over the already great S22U)
- Battery life is now very close to iPhone Pro Max range (still a little behind 13 PM and 14 PM)
- and then all the other added benefits of SPen (have to say I still miss this from my Note says), 10x optical zoom periscope etc…

If all of the above is enticing then go for it!

They’re both great phones! I don’t think anyone can really answer this for you as everyone has different use cases/experiences. I think the best idea is to buy the s23U and use it for 2ish weeks (while it’s still in the return period) and keep your iPhone too. You can then make a decision based on your experience- if you like it, you can sell your iPhone. And if you don’t like it, you can just return the galaxy.

Samsung is a dedicated machine that you are buying to enjoy, use the missing features and ride it to the ground.
If not, then you are losing ton of trade in value, marketability and resell. For this reasons I never go back to Samsung, because they always come up with 6 mos upgrade and you are not the latest tech user. As opposed iPhones do age gracefully.

Buy from a place with a return policy and try it out. If you are that concerned that you won’t like it and feel you have to prompt others for advice, maybe the sole motivation is gear acquisition syndrome with no real use case or actual benefit for you in the long run.

If You could get away with an android ( no airdrop, no imessage, no airpods pro controls on the phone etc.) just get an android.

If you’re used to iOS, you will probably regret it.

All my Apple friends who tried switching came running back within 9 months.

But if you are a techie who likes to experiment, go for it.

Just keep in mind that selling a Samsung won’t give you the same return as selling an iPhone. Android flagships often go on sale and dramatically lose their value quite quickly.

It's your call; it's your money & your choice

Personally I wouldn't; however, I would highly recommend the Pixel 7 Pro, it's a superb phone and very slick. A great saving on the S23U too

I've got that (business mobile) and my 14 Pro Max (personal mobile) and it's great to be in both ecosystems

I have the IP 12 Pro Max and Android S22 Ultra. I can’t seem to peel this S22 away from my hands but this Apple ecosystem has me deep-in. I even managed to make my MBP a server so I could add imessage to my android and STILL, I will not fully change over.. can’t, won’t, never. The S22 is great but the ease of use in the Apple world is simpler since I have everything Apple.

Feature, feature, feature.

And next year, more features.

Still doesn’t change the calculus around Apple all-in-one garden vs Android+Samsung crapware+ third party ecosystem on Android.

Let me guess, you've either never owned a Samsung device or last owned one several years ago?

@eborko1 , both the 13 Pro Max and S23U are top notch devices and perform very well. As others have said try an S23 from a retailer that has a good return policy. Everyone here can talk (type) until we are blue in the face and spew our opinions. In the end it doesn't matter, try it for yourself and decide which one works best for you.

I own an A53 5G and love it. I use it w/ Knox and BlackBerry (MDM) for work.
But it does little for me in the Apple ecosystem.
