Stay on 4.1 or update to 4.3.3? (IP4)

I have an IP4 running 4.1, modem firmware 02.10.04, all blobs saved since 4.0. I didn't have any need of unlocking when I updated to 4.1 (I'm on AT&T), so I updated the baseband with the firmware. Now I'm going to Europe in a few weeks time and it would be nice to unlock the phone so I can use a prepaid SIM while I'm over there. Is that possible? If not, should I just update to 4.3.3 using iTunes (the "normal" way) and jailbreak again?

its possible with the Gevey Ultra interposer, get one. Yeah u can bump to 4.3.3 and re-jailbreak with redsn0w or the new jailbreakme.com
 
Update to 4.3.3. Open Safari in your iPhone and go to jailbreakme.com. You will be jailbroken. Buy a Gevey SIM online, and unlock. :)
 
Please realize that you should make sure that your device does not turn off during your unlock, or else you will have to repeat all the steps it took for you to unlock in the first place. The gevey sim is like a tethered unlock in a way... :D
 
So Gevey is the only way on 02.10.04, huh? Unfortunate...should have kept the baseband went I went from 4.0 to 4.1. I guess it might be worth the 30ish dollars...

Not with the Gevey Ultra, right?
 
I am still on version 4.1 (iPhone 4)...baseband 1.59.00. My phone is jailbroken and unlocked.
I tried to upgrade to 4.3.3 and to keep my baseband...but itunes is giving me error msg saying cannot verify w/ apple (something like that). Can someone help me and let me know how I can upgrade to 4.3.3 and keep the same baseband? (Because I need to jailbreak and unlock the phone).

I am looking in buying the new white iphone 4 this week...I think you are able to jailbreak the new iphone 4 correct? how about unlock?

I believe you have to restore to a custom firmware in order to retain your baseband. Correct me if I am wrong.
 
I'm drunk. And not gonna lie, I didn't read any other comments in this thread, or even your original post.

But judging from the title - I was in the same position. I've been using 4.1 FOREVER and put off upgrading to 4.3.3. because of the hassle of upgrading all my tweaks, reinstalling the Cydia packages etc etc. The other night I just bit the bullet and did it - I don't regret it. It took a few attempts to get it to work, and resetting up all my folders and <snip> sucked, but it's done.

If you wanna do it, do it. Just be prepared to spend a bit of time on it if something doesn't go right.

Create custom 4.3.3 firmware with sn0wbreeze (win) or pwnagetool (mac) and put your phone in pwned DFU mode with either of the aforementioned programs or Redsn0w and shift + restore (option on mac) to the custom IPSW with iTunes. and jailbreak.

You will be able to jailbreak your white iPhone 4 but the only unlock option is with Gevey.
 
Updated from 4.1 l1mera1n to 4.3.3 jbme, other than bitesms not working, all is good. GSM iPhone 4
