Are you eligible for contract upgrade? If so you can get the 4S for $200 under contract, sell your iPhone 4 outright for ~$300, and walk away with a new phone and $100 in your pocket (but under contract extension).

While the addition of Siri and the better camera/processor are always fun to have, I'm not sure the 4S really has a lot of "wow factor" from the 4. That being said, to each his own. Personally I intend to wait for the 5 because I am hoping for LTE support.

I am with you. I am holding on to my 4, and waiting for the 5. The 4 is a perfectly fine phone in meantime. It helps that my wife has a 4S. I got to play with hers, and realize what I wasn't missing
Why not? I just did the same deal 2 days ago. Except mine was $150 and the iPhone 4.
Is it worth extending contract? Nope! Is it worth upgrading to a faster phone, faster data, better camera, Siri, and 1080p video without extending contract and your coming out of pocket with $150-200? Yup!
Keep in mind, the value of the 4 is low $250-$300. While the 4S is $500+. So when the time comes to sell before the 5 drops, you'll get alot more for the 4S then the 4.

Resale prices vary by location, but I'm seeing 16gb iPhone 4 with bad ESN going for OVER $300 on eBay. A fully functional version will be even higher. And the price trend on eBay is rising. I don't know why, maybe it is those people looking for an upgrade to their iPod Touches.
Do you think the camera upgrade, processor upgrade, and siri for 200 bucks are worthy enough for you? If that so, go on. If I have that option, I'd prefer to stick with my iphone 4, I don't really need the new features though. Just my personal opinion if someone offer me..
IMO it's not worth the upgrade, unless you happen to take a lot of pics/video and/or you really want Siri (which has the potential to become cool but it is sort of lackluster right now).
I traded my 4 for 4s plus $150. It was scratched up but I knew I will just take it to Apple and have it replaced since I noticed right away dead pixel. If you doing trade make sure you are getting real iPhone 4S and not iphone 4 on iOS5. I did not care about upgrading I just wanted warranty. In the end he got phone and cash but I got WARRANTY and 4S is actually pretty nice.
You have a point. The prices are a little on the high side for the 4 because of the jailbreak being available even on IOS5 (Semi Tethered)
Once iPhone 4S has a jailbreak, the prices for the 4 will decrease even more.
my contract is up in January. I have already decided I'm waiting for the 5 to see what that brings us..
