My harddrive has ZERO kb available.

before any of you ask, i have not used all 297 Gb available (320gb harddrive)

i have used about 52 gb, then in an effort to "clean" my computer, i used disk utility and did a " " and now i have no space left on my computer.

What have i done? and how do i retrieve all of Harddrive space?!

Please help me. I seem to be in a big mess everyday. :(

Sam

Which utility? Exactly what did you do?

sorry i guess i didnt write it out for some reason :S

i clicked Erase Free Space, it then went through making temp files, froze and than "unexpectidly quit" i didnt take the error note or anything. now i have 0 bytes of data available. :(

^^^^ Did you see the link in my post. It's a simple fix ;)

If it's your only drive and you have all the data backed up, I would strongly consider an erase and install. When it happened to me I couldn't find any other way to get the free space back again (I wasn't on Mac Rumors at that time), so I reformatted.

hello again.

after restarting my computer i found those files in the recycling bin.

however now i try to delete them, and it just says __"emptying the trash" for a cery long time. there are 2 files it is trying to delet, one is 190Gb and one is 48GB.

how long should i wait? it has been going 10 hours now.

Sam

i finally managed to delete the files, but not securely.

Thank you to all those who gave their help :)
