I am using AW series 3 since a week.
The step counter shows really high values (more than 10000 steps in half a day).
I have a doubt about this count:
sometimes I drive a fotklift (maximum speed 10km/h) and usually I have my left hand on the steering wheel.
The doubt I have is this:
- accelerometer sees the movement (forklift moving)
- gyroscope sees the wrist movement
These two conditions are considered walking by the AW software

IS this possible?
Any idea about avoiding false step count?

In this specifica case I think I could try wearing AW on right wrist (usually not moved while driving the forklift)

Thank you in advance for your answers

On your iPhone in the Health app, you can see the steps data in a timeline chart. Take a look at when you're achieving a lot of steps and if that coincides with your forklift driving, then you're doing something that is giving you false steps.

I've never driven a forklift, so take this with a grain of salt. Maybe the forklift vibrates a lot and the AW thinks you're walking. Or perhaps you're listening to Billy Idol and rocking out with the music. ;)

I drove back one day from Maine to Cape Cod, and there was traffic though Boston. Stop and go. My left (AW0) arm was often cocked up on the sill of the door. All of that time registered as "stand" time. So I think there are situations that fool the logic behind some of the circles.

That weekend was a slow drive both ways. The "free speech" thing clogged up downtown Boston. And it seems it might have been the last-chance-weekend for a getaway to Maine, so the roads were jammed both going and coming. I might have made better time with a forklift.

My Apple Watch counted 0 steps while I was at my desk typing (I'm a programmer so I spend all day at my desk) -- and the times I have checked it while driving, it does pretty well but I don't get a lot of traffic where I am.

Unlike my Fitbit HR which gave me 150 steps just for hitting the can, washing my hands, and drying them - I had to take it off while I typed or I'd be hitting goals just sitting there. :/ (Same for driving).
