After over a month of hassles, rude customer service and 2 different 2016 13 mbp one with and one without touch bar , I've decided to resort back to my sons old 2015 rmbp base model. I finally get the issues solved to a tolerable degree with sleep issue and graphic issues to now a hard crash and looping when I start the machine back up from a power off. tried reinstalling Sierra, but it crashes/freezes during the install process. after fighting the install, the machine hangs on power ups and gets super hot. this is what I've been experiencing, and may not even come close to the joy of ownership other people are having. Imo, for my needs, this particular model is unreliable. I can't be doing a demo or sales pitch and the machine not want to boot or wake up from a sleep. Apple engineers are dragging their feet with my sons open case with similar sleep issues, and I'm tired of hearing the phrase "sorry to hear this, but its the first ive heard of it"., or "well our new 4k monitor should solve the issue." Heck no!!! setup last gen model same way, and guess what.... Sierra installed everything without even a blink.n Either the dongles, Sierra or both didn't like what I asked of the 2016.

There's definitely something funky going on with the QA team and these 2016 MBPs. My base 15" will hang half the time when waking from sleep with an external monitor plugged in. The culprit appears to be the Touch Bar as I get a crash report after having to power cycle the MBP.

And then there are times where the battery will drain unexplainably fast, with just Safari running. A reboot fixes the issue, but I'm starting to feel like I'm back on my Android phone (rebooting almost always fixed whatever issue, but it was a sorry excuse to have to do it so frequently). I don't think any of these issues are hardware related, so once again I'm holding out hope for a software update to address them.

The 2015 is still a very capable machine... The 2016's do have some bugs but I assume Apple will iron them out in due time. If you don't want to beta test, then I can't say I blame you for giving up.

I love the new screen, KB and trackpad so I am going to stick it out. I am however going to return my TB as soon as the nTB I ordered from BH arrives next week..

Mxbzz: My first 13 was a quality check unit, as it came with 4 battery cycles. The unit had so many dongle issues that they quickly took it back. I traded up to a tb version and it had issues as well. I eliminated as many dongles as I could, and the problem started to diminish and sierras latest update fixed it for me, but Sierra was difficult to install. Crashed 3 times and hung for 15 minutes. The machine would hang upon turning it on and you had to cycle it 2 or more times with the unit getting very hot to touch.

Raqball: Loved everything about the new machine. The new touchpad is by far the best out on the market, and if apple would enable the apple pen to use on it... SWWWEETTT!!! bye bye surface!! Just got tired of being the beta tester. I spent close to 25 years of beta testing windows mistakes. If I didn't need it for field work with clients, I would have been much much more patient.

haven't ruled out coming back to one. see how my son's issues are resolved. he has some funky port issues with hdmi dongle. Apple has an enginering case pending, buts its been over 10 days with no response. So see what happens.

They are pretty nice portability wise. This is something. I really liked my late 2013 15", but this is a bit nicer. Not a huge difference, but if your on the go it's got it's advantages.

But if the issues add up, what can you do?
