i would like to sell off my iphone...

what would be the steps / things to do so that none of my personal data stays in the phone and also it is convenient for the new user to start using the phone... i plan to buy an iphone 5 later on when it is out in the market...

suggestions are much appreciated...

---------------------------------
iphone 4... 16GB... Black... 4.3.3...

recently jailbroken via redsnow...

iTunes 10.3.1.55...

Restore in iTunes and set it up as new.

do u recommend 'Reset All Settings' or 'Erase All Content and Settings'?

if i erase all the contents will it undo the jailbreak?... will it act as a total factory reset like other phones?...

but i want to keep the apps for the new user as an added advantage to entice him to buy the phone from me... on the other hand i dont want to keep a single it of my personal data...

:-(

Your apps will be a false promise to him as he will not be able to use them as soon as he signs in with his iTunes account.

1. Restore to factory defaults with iTunes, not through the Settings menu in the phone.
2. Activate it with your SIM (or a dead one you may have lying around).
3. Set up as new.
4. Get paper $$$$$$$.

Erasing through your phone will kill the JB. Use either pwnage or snowbreeze to JB and erase the phone.
Make sure you have an inactive sim you can use to activate the phone, because you don't want to use your account to do it.

- Remove SIM card

- Restore iPhone to factory settings

- Jailbreak & Unlock (more valuable)

- Sell on ebay and advertise Jailbreak & Unlocked

If the OP needs to ask about this then I doubt they have preserved their baseband so wouldn't be able to do a software unlock.
