After making the OS X Lion boot disc what are the steps to clean install? Do we have to delete partitions, stick the disc in restart and the delete partitions, anyone know all of the steps?

Is there a reason why one would need to do a clean install of Lion versus just upgrading from Snow Leopard?

Because upgrading won't remove all the extensions from Snow Leopard that Lion no longer uses, resulting in slower performance.

A clean install guarantees that all traces of the past OS are completely gone and everything is starting fresh. It's basically the equivalent of getting a brand new Mac with the same hardware, and we can all agree that a brand new computer is going to run smoother than one that has been used for a couple years :)
