I just bought a 64GB SSD today, and I'm wondering how can I just transfer some of my files over from my stock 2011 MBP 13'? Like is there a way to migrate the system and application folder only?

Install an OS on it, and then run the migration assistant.

Preferably, you'd have both drives connected at the same time. If necessary, you can image the old drive to a network share and then run the migration assistant against a mounted disk image after you've created a user on the new OS.

Good Idea?

So I want to have a bulletproof system because I often do gigs as a DJ and want something very reliable.

I'm getting an SSD and I want to be safe incase it ever crashes on me, that I can always run OSX independent of it. Would it be a good idea to just drop the SSD in the laptop, and run OSX off of it, but also leave OSX installed on my 750GB drive so that if the SSD dies, I can still run my operating system?

Any ideas?
