I bought an iPhone 6 under contract via Verizon two weeks ago and decided that I want to sell it and order an off-contract iPhone 6 Plus instead. I would have just returned the phone to Verizon, paid the $35 restocking fee and re-ordered, but I didn't because I got a bonus 1GB/mo of data for re-upping my contract before the end of September, which is worth $240 over two years (b/c it let me drop the amount of data on my plan by 1GB as a result).
So anyway, I'm under the impression that to do this and give the buyer full assurance that they'll own the phone free and clear, I need to:
1) Disable find my iPhone & do a full restore on the phone
2) Remove my VZW SIM
3) Call VZW and ask them to disassociate the phone's IMEI from my account so it can be resold (and switch back to my iPhone 5 in the meantime)
4) Remove the phone from my Apple account
After that, I should have an unlocked A1549 iPhone 6 that anyone with a compatible carrier can use, right?
Also, to be clear, the phone was bought subsidized under a standard 2-year contract for the main line in a "More Everything" plan, so the contract should be tied to my line and not the device.
