Thinking about getting two HPs, and spacing them out over a long board table, the idea being to link them up, and use them as a speakerphone for conference calls - the advantages of two are better coverage for both microphones and speakers. Has anyone tried this - any reason why this might not work? Thanks

Wouldn't work I believe that when you connect a phone call to the stereo homepods it will play out of only one, I believe which ever one is the dominant one.

Meaning when you ask for Siri only one will process and respond they don't respond together in stereo.
