hi, i was wondering how to turn my stereo channel sound into 5.1 on my logitech x540, i tried that tupid jack app but it didnt work so did ac3 jack... would getting a cheap plastic external usb soundcard be better?

What is it you want to do? what's the "big picture"?

Do you have a stereo recording and you want to convert it to 5.1?
Maybe you just want to listen to iTunes with your home theator system.
Trying to play a DVD with a 5.1 sound track?
