TV sendup of Steve Jobs planned called 'iCon'

Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal

Cable channel Epix and studio Media Rights Capital say they are working on a satirical TV show about Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs.

The show will be called "iCon" and Newsweek contributor Dan Lyons has been signed up as the writer. Lyons is no stranger to sending up the Apple executive, writing about him on "The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs" blog and in his novel "Options: The Secret Life of Steve Jobs – A Parody."

Borat director Larry Charles, who wrote and produced for both "Seinfeld" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is in charge of the pilot.

Epix said in a press release that the show will be "a savage satire centering on a fictional Silicon Valley CEO whose ego is a study in power and greed."

Something is not adding up here.

The director of Borat is not Larry David and has nothing to do with Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Despite who is directing it, it sounds terrible on paper, but thats just my opinion.

According to Wikipedia, he was involved with those shows.

This should be AWESOME.

Its going to be on a fledgling channel, and will ultimately fail miserably as the majority of the world has no idea who the hell steve jobs is.

Epix?

I have never heard of Epix... And I watch cable TV.

Most people have never heard of Steve Jobs

Fail

It does not even sound funny...

But I would not mind seeing Jobs knocked down a few notches. Apple is held to "Saintly" standards, which I do not quite understand.

"Jobs' wife is also absent from these philanthropic lists, although she has made dozens of political donations totaling tens of thousands of dollars to the Democrats, according to the Open Secrets database.

LOL

CEO who's ego is a study in power and greed.

Because steve jobs is such a powerful man.

Ah okay, that makes more sense.

But still, I was commenting on the above poster's comment on Larry David, who is not working on this sitcom.

True. But wouldn't that be totally rad?:D

I just hope Jobs doesn't put a stop to this with his lawyers and junk... C'MON, Stevie, you mofo. Lighten up.

For those pointing out that the majority don't know of Steve Jobs:

"'Epix said in a press release that the show will be "a savage satire centering on a fictional Silicon Valley CEO whose ego is a study in power and greed.'"

So maybe the character is based on Jobs and nobody has to know who he is to enjoy the show.

And I, too, have never heard of Epix. I don't really watch much TV though.
