Well, then I guess that's that. But now I'm wondering why they didn't bother to upgrade the battery life and speakers :/
Take the DS to DS lite. They increased the brightness, and to me, they made it look nicer and smaller. They could have done that for the Touch (Even though it looks pretty nice already).

In other words...wait about a year, it'll come. People don't want cameras in their Touch's like they don't want FM radio's, Flash players, or video playback in an mp3 player.

Now I can see why they didn't release it today. It was important for them to hit that $199 mark with the Touch. I think they should have included it in the 32/64 GB versions though. Oh well, I was never going to update my Touch this year anyway, it has no effect on my.

Customers started to tell us, "You don't know what you've got here - it's a great game machine, with the multitouch screen, the accelerometer, and so on."

We started to market it that way, and it just took off. And now what we really see is it's the lowest-cost way to the App Store, and that's the big draw. So what we were focused on is just reducing the price to $199. We don't need to add new stuff - we need to get the price down where everyone can afford it.

Seriously?

It's kind of hard to believe that is actually coming from Steve Jobs.

Why would Apple pigeonhole themselves by making the touch purely a gaming device?

Why not add the camera and make tons of money off the hundreds of thousands of people who can't afford an iPhone contract but want access to the great photography apps (CameraBag, Pano, etc.) in the App Store?

Oh no one wanted a camera on the ipod touch? The rants about it says otherwise.

Stupid Steve Jobs.

STEVE JOBS!!!!! SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! c'mon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am shocked and confused???????

I WANT A CAMERA ON THE THE IPOD TOUCH 3G!! (oh wait 4G!!!!!) i called it!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D

Now i would not be surprised if the Zune HD, smoked the ipod touch 3G! (or 2G, b/c the 3G looks like a 2G!!!!!!)

Now that I look at it, I'd want to buy this year's touch.

Going from a 1st Gen touch to a faster-than-2nd gen touch would be wonders for me.

Call it the Steve Jobs power, but I'm kinda over a camera lol.

I know I don’t look at the touch as a gaming device. I have a PSP for that…even if the touch is “Touch screen”…I like buttons for video games….

I use my ipod as a multimedia device…internet, video, music (duh), and was hoping for the camera…that would have been the icing on the cake (was looking forward to using the photography apps without having to import pics).

I could really care less if they brought [insert awesome game title here] on the ipod touch..I personally hate playing story mode/ long term games on the touch….EX: Brothers in Arms…haven’t even passed the first level…it bores me and was too irritating to get the player to move right with the touch screen. I like apps that are short/entertaining for “waiting in line” types of situations.

Well anyway…that’s my take…

What is this black box?

I just find it very strange that the Nano has significant built-in features (FM Radio and camera) that the Touch and the Classic don't have.

Who knows?

The processor is fast enough on the touch, maybe Apple will include FM Radio in a firmware update. We don't exactly know what's inside of it until someone does a teardown of the touch.

...why not have it now?

Apple totally missed a marketing oppurtunity! They lost my money...

I am now interested in the Zune HD and the Creative Zii Egg
True, I would've been a potential buyer if it had a camera and maybe a different back that wouldn't scratch so damn easy...

BTW, Zune HD is awesome, but doesn't work on Macs :(
