Im contemplating a move from the XS to the 11. Not the pro as i can't justify the price this time.

With a 10 month old im taking a lot of portrait photos but the frustrating thing for me is the portrait mode is only on the telephoto camera which means your always stepping back and very often never have the room to get the full photo in frame easily.

With the iphone 11 its on the standard lens which sounds much more appealing and the Ultra Wide sounds like it can be good fun

Obviously the screen isn't as good but i really don't think i will notice after a while.

Just wanted to see if anyone has done this and if anyone has any thoughts on it.

In good light condition is telephoto lens better because you get data from 2 cameras and you have a larger (with more pixels) depth map.

But yes, in low light and less room is better Wide-angle lens for portrait.
Battery life is unbeatable (probably 2x times better than XS), Night Mode is fun, you can get 128GB for good price. I'm wonder in what angles FaceID works.

In my opinion an even bigger advance can be seen in your images if you use a dedicated camera with a much bigger sensor than a phone.

I've switched from the XS Max to the 11. The 11 does take better portrait mode photos IMO and yes, with less distance to do it. Add to this, better low light photos, better front camera, and better battery life.
