Also went to Apple Store for the battery replacement. Said can't do it. Phone needs to be on latest iOS.

Is there an issue for you not downloading the newest IOS? I had the battery replaced on my 6S+ on Monday and they broke my camera,so I got a refurb with a 90 day warranty for the $29 battery fee. My phone only had 177 charge cycles since new.
