Still $599?!

How is the iPhone still $599? I know they keep adding features but $599 for an iPhone seems kinda silly when I can buy an iPad with an equally magical but much larger screen. Just kinda surprised the price hasn't dropped, even a little, through 4 iterations now.

At this point, isn't it at least tempting to have a 3G iPad and a free flip phone from AT&T?

Err, have you looked at the competitors? It's a bit steep, but still in-line with the competitors. Just for comparison, Nexus One with 4GB SD card is $530
