Still confused on pre-ordering/upgrade

I have ATT and I am the primary with the 3gs. I used my upgrade a few months ago to get my wife an Atrix since her upgrade wasn't available at the time (it now is). How will this affect me pre-ordering the 4gs? When I click on the upgrade 'tool' it says upgrade not available on my line but is on her line.

Is that something I set up when getting the phone? I just don't want to get the phone and it be locked on to her number. I don't really know how the sim card stuff works.

Cant you just get the upgrade on her line and then put your sim card in it?

AT&T allows you to use other peoples upgrades as long as they are on your family plan so yes.

You can always just get the upgrade and put in your sim so it will work.
