ok i have a couple of questions, i want a new hard drive for my powerbook G4 12" i posted a while back but i'm still lookin for a good one. i want to know if there are any drives that will fit in my PB that are BIGGER than 100GB. if so where to find them. also, are there any good 100GB 7200 rpm? i can't find a 7200 rpm drive thats above 60 GB. if such things exist please point me in the right direction

i'm pretty sure i just heard htat seagate either has or will shortly update the momentus line, with a 120 (or was it 160)GB 5400, but they are also making a 100GB 7200 drive... and the momentus drives are notoriously low onpower consumption and even quieter then an apple OEM drive, also not very hot

i heard something like that too.

you have a link for the 100gb or a press release for the larger ones? I'm interested.

Thanks

too bad that hitachi pokes along at 4200rpm

the 8mb cache might help a wee bit, but still...

still looking for the 100gb 7200rpm...

The Seagates are both 5400. I wonder if they are subject to the same weird noise issues that people complained about in the 100gb one that is available BTO on PBs now? (the metal ball dropping sound -- my notebook drive does this occasionally too, but it sounded like a lot of those 100gb drives did it almost constantly! )

I'm also looking for a 80gb+ and 5400+ drive from my aging Tibook. If anyone has a do it ourself tips (like drives, tools, retailers or techniques) they would be much appreciated!

ok, thanks a lot for the info, i don't think i can wait till 2006 to get the 160 but i'm interested in the seagate 120GB. how fast is it cause if its slow like the hitachi, fughetaboutit. if thats the case then can anyone recomend a decent 100GB hard drive at 5200 rpm
