iPad STM Grip and CCK?

I have the STM Grip case for my iPad 3. The case is great, but has one major problem.

With the case on, I can't get the CCK to work. It seems the plastic of the case prevents the CCK from being able to be fully inserted into the 30-pin port.

Other than shaving down the case, are there any other work-arounds?
