Stolen Macbook Pro - Retrace

samba

macrumors newbie
I got my Macbook Pro stolen after 4 great years and its pissed the crap outta me, all my uni work and not to mention all my music was on it.

So i went to apple and asked them what they could do, but they cant do much. They just said that if the computer comes for a service we can tell you then...but what thief is gonna service a stolen macbook pro.

Is there any way i can retrace my laptop? i have insurance but i still want my original mac back :(

Your best bet is to just work with the local police... file a report, give the serial number, etc.

Other than that, not much you can do

Sucks
Hope you get it back

i recovered my stolen notebook with this in a few hours.

So you found your laptop by installing this program. The program traced ur Macbook and u went and picked it up?

I don't get how this works? and if it does work will it work in Australia?

Sounds 2 good to be true!

it has to be installed on your notebook prior, im saying, this should always be on any notebook.

i realize you cant install it now, but when and if you do get it back pay the little money for this to get it back.

Oh...fair enough. I'll definitely get something like that for my next Macbook.

But if anyone knows of away to track my stolen Macbook. Please let me know!

check local craigslist, check eBay and local pawn shops. A thief would want to get rid of it for cash and those are the easiest way to get cash.

Was just doing some research. So mac cant track my Macbook at all unless it's taken in for a service! and i can only track my computer down if i have a tracking program already installed on the notebook.

So pretty much i need to get over it and get another mac on insurance.
correct me if im wrong...

this sucks!

looks that way
still, check ebay, craigslist, any other form of selling a laptop quickly, just like the previous poster said

Agree-watch Craigslist, local sales ads etc. File Police report with serial #.
You have a chance to get it back.

Keep checking the local stuff, and or ebay for it. Chances are the thief will offload it

Can you think of anybody you know that might have stolen it? Sometimes "friends" aren't so friendly. Don't go around accusing people, but it wouldn't hurt to be a little more suspicious. I've had a "friend" steal my iPod. He is obviously no longer my friend.
